anyone try to edit their config.ini in order to use milestones software? specifically their driver VTek6xxxPtz.dll
i do not know what string to use, this is the config.ini from my 4xem which is actually a vivotek PZ6114. I assume that editing the modelname to what the milestone driver has contained within it (did not see anything with hexeditor) would work.
;PZ61x4 Initial Configuration File
[system]
<modelname>
PZ61x4
<hostname>
PTZ_Cam1

Milestone software works with the 4XEM PTZ camera.
I actually have the software running and recording from my 4XEM WPTZ. You do not need to edit the config.ini file.
Let me know if you have any other questions. _________________ Administrator

HI Wes:
I have the "free" version xprotect professional 4.6a with xpdp24 device installer. version 4.6b would not install with my "free" key.
the driver I get using "detect device" is Video:0505. If I try and manually select the device type as Vivotek 6xxx ptz "it is unable to detect the device"
using Video:0505 edit device settings - camera settings are grayed out and i cannot edit PTZ preset positions in camera settings under the camera name Camera1 (drill down menu)
what driver are you using? can u send me the file(s) please?
what does your config.ini look like?

You want to use the Video:0505 driver - that is the one I'm using.
If you select the device that also displays the IP of the device, the camera settings button is greyed out. If you double click the device it will show Camera 1 like you said. The camera settings should not be greyed out when you select Camera 1. As for PTZ presets, I haven't fooled around with those yet and I think I remember them not being supported yet.
I would suggest contacting Milestone Support. Their US office is (503) 906-7910. They will be able to tell you what exactly is supported with that camera. _________________ Administrator
