I have homes in US and Thailand. I amusing Ycam Knight and Dlink 920 IP cameras to monitor them.

The Ycam is flexible with motion detection, email but the picture quality is awful.

The Dlink is not very flexible but the camera quality is much better than the Ycam.

Where should I start to look for a security camera that provides the flexibility of the Ycam and as good or better picture quality of the Dlink?

I need a wireless camera with motion detection and email so I can be alerted when the cameras see motion at the houses.

Regards,

First, stay away from cameras that are made in China, the quality is not that good.

For monitoring my homes, I use an Axis M1031-W. It has 2 way audio, use PIR motion detect with is way more reliable than the video motion detect you are using now, emails me on motion detect, has built in white light. Good software, lots of options. Prices well to, I paid about $230USD.

Night vision is not good, so I leave a flourecent light on. If you are concerned about power consuption of light, you can put them on motion detectors.

There's a 1 megapixel version coming out soon, the M1054, but is not wireless. Get power from the ethernet cable, via an injector or PoE switch.

Please allow me to repeat something very important which buellwinkle stated:

For those manufacturers in China, if you disagree, SEND ME your best product and I will compare it to my AXIS and Panasonic cameras. If it can run with them in ALL aspects including manuals and documentation, I will conced. Until then, I have only seen worthless junk from China sold in USA. My friends in South America tell me the same story, so it ain't just me saying this....

you can not deny all the Made in China product as you didn't see it, there has a lot of very good product from China as well~ Yes, I must admit that there may has lower quality product with very cheap price, but you get what you pay for. how much you pay for AXIS and Panasonic cameras and how much you pay for Chinese goods, you cannot compare them together as it is not fair. As China is a country with huge human resources, so the price for those goods upon the same-level quality will be the competitive as the lower label cost~

YOU and China have YET to prove it to me. Almost EVERYTHING that comes from China is cheap and substandard in quality compared to competition. I will pay more for a QUALITY product rather than going rh cheap route and soon become disappointed.
If YOU claim your products are better than the competion such as Axis and Panasonic, SEND ME your best and I will run it side by side your your competitor's product for a period of time.

So, if you want to prove yourself, I will give you my shipping address for YOU to send me your best. PROVE IT!

p.s. - By the way,, back in 1986 I spent several weeks in China and several months in Hong Kong and your own people admitted Chinese made products are substandard. Obviously, time has changed, but I do not see any improvements in quality.
