I've been playing around with XProtect for the past week trying to get it setup so that I can record the video from my IP Cameras from my office on the computer at my house.
I've yet to successfully get this to work but my question is, do I need to have the software on a computer at my office in order to connect from my house or can I connect directly off-site to the camera without worrying about a computer in the middle? If so, does Xprotect Essential allow for this or do I need another version of it?
You don't need anything on site to record as long as you're able to get to your camera from your house. Essential can do this yes.
If you're trying to record H.264 make sure you are allowing port 554 through you're routing equipment and firewalls. _________________ I can record your video remotely. PM for details.
