I recently purchased a netgear 834gt wireless router.Setting up was very easy
I was very impressed with it.
I then purchased a 9060a IP Camera. The idea was to install the camera so that I could view my home from my workplace.
With the IP camera I did not have to have a computer turned on, because the camera has its own web server.
I set everything up. Static IP...Portforwarding. everything worked fine.
the proccess was quite simple.
However. I did have a little glip....
My router kept dropping its connection. Even though I set the time out settings to "0"
I contacted netgear support on quite a number of occasions. they gave me a number of methods to try, but no luck.
But I did notice that when I quickly powered down the router, on powerup it reconected.
So I rigged up a timer that over a set period of time, it cut the power to the router for a second.
I then set the time out settings on the router to "99". then set the timer to trigger every "98" minutes.
So now everything works fine. But what a stupid way of getting something to work.
Netgear was not very supportive, useless to say the least.
Although my IP camera is working, I would like to purchase a router that does not drop its connection.
If anyone can help, I would be grateful.
