Question about how much time you can record on the Camera

I have never bought a security camera before.
I was looking for one that would allow me to record video onto the camera…ie no DVR. I have seen some with SD card slots but how much recording time can you get with a 4g SD card. Are there better ways of doing this?
Will it get me minutes or hours of record time? Any advise would be wonderful thanks

First of all, double posting is typically frowned upon. Your posts are less than a minute apart...

And, you can expect hours of video depending on your recording settings. Recording in MPEG4 and/or doing recording only on motion (if the camera supports this) will give you lots of recording time. The easiest way to estimate how much space recording will take (for MJPEG) is to multiply 55 by the number of megapixels the camera has. This should give you a worst-case idea of how much space you'll need.
