|
|
Hello.
Sorry if this is a newbie question but I'm thinking about setting up my house with IP cameras(both wired and wireless) and I was wondering if there was a device or a card that you could use on a PC that would give you a video feed output to an RCA or Coax cable?
I have a ELAN home system that need an RCA cable feed to show video however I also want to make a video server that I can see remotely.
If anyone could please let me know about an card or adaptor that will give you an video output to an RCA cable(from IP cameras), I would sure appreciate it.

This can be done but may not be practical for a domestic install.
IP decoders or Transcoders usually only work if the IP camera is from the same supplier as the decoder.
They are very expensive. The ones we use are £400-£600 each for one video channel.
Axis, Bosch, ACTi and Vantage are the only ones we sell as a company. Bosch is the most common used but a very expensive solution and only used on large budget projects like the Police, Military and city wide CCTV installs.
Axis is not available in the UK as it is not ROHS compliant and can no longer be purchased by suppliers in the UK. You may find them outside the EU though. Expect to pay at least £350-400
You can get IP cameras with RCA output as well as feeding an IP stream.
Hope this helps,
John

Thank you for the response. I really appreciate it.
Can you let me know which Camera has the RCA output as well as IP network connector? That might be what I'm looking for.
Thanks for your help.

Try this camera on for size: http://www.4xem.com/products/wired/IPCAMW80Z/index.html
I've been told that it has a the connectors for it. I'm also told they offer good support. I'm new to this too but have a client who wants a multi-camera set-up to monitor an apartment complex and display the security cam feed into the cable feed. I'm waiting to find out how that can be done, as I have a bid to place on it. The above link was the first piece of the puzzle to solve the problem. I have trouble getting responses on this forum. Good luck. _________________ Action combined with knowledge is real power

The Panasonic WV-NP244 has both analog and IP outputs. It also has POE to reduce wiring. A wireless gizmo from Radio Shack can transmit the analog output to a TV if you wish.
