|
|
we have 47 vivotek network camera , including ptz & fix cameras , which are monitoring through a wireless link ,
the wireless link has 15mbps real throuput , and the overall data transfer from cameras is 9mbps (some cameras work at 256k and some of them 128k)
the problem is where we monitor cameras by mean of three computer and three independent st3402 software
when all the cameras are being monitored with st3402 the video will be slow and the network usage of each computer will be under 2mbps , but if cameras being monitored through internet explorer , all 47 camera will work almost good , and each computer is using about 3 mbps bandwidth ,
there is no network problem or bandwidth limit as we tested all connections and we are sure about the bandwidth and other network parameters
we think there is a hidden problem in st3402 software , and ask anyone who can help or has any opnion to help us
excuse me for my bad english
ThanX

In regards to your network bandwidth, usually you will come into bandwidth problems if you exceed 30% of your maximum bandwidth. If you have a 15mbps network and you are using 9mbps, you are exceeding this 30% and can come into problems. I would suggest increasing your maximum bandwidth, which might be tough considering you are using a wireless link.
What version of the ST3402 software are you using? I believe they have a new version out which fixes some bugs.
Also, do your computers meet the minimum requirements of the ST3402 software? _________________ Administrator

What are the model number of your vivotek cameras, there software is kind of OK but doesn't help you for any kind of managing bandwidth, I have some of the PZ6114's, IP6117's, FD6111/6112's and I am using IVC software and things work out pretty good, I can control frame rate for live videos + saved videos, and best part is they can do MPEG4 so its a huge saving on my disk, only thing is they can't display more then 4 cameras at the same time on a screen which is OK for me, but oyu have to look in this, if you are OK with that, but you should try it.

I've got ten wireless Vivoteks deployed...seven on one network and three on another. The signal on the larger network is intermittent in the monitoring software. I embedded the video in a webpage, without the software's controls, and get a good signal. To control the camera, I leave the window open with the Vivotek controls open (rarely does it present a picture for me remotely), this way I can see the video in Firefox and control it through IE, without video. I've had trouble using their recording and monitoring sofware and am looking into a different solution. I am glad to hear that I'm not the only one who has had difficulty... ClearVision software has been recommended but I know nothing about it yet.
Maybe if I use a different monitoring software, my singal will improve and the intermittent signals will diminish? It's awful right now. Be wary of wireless, especially in an area that has many wi-fi networks around you. It's a war zone. _________________ Action combined with knowledge is real power
