Good morning folks, I have a question and this seems to be the correct place to ask.
We have a customer running 36 total of the following cameras:
Axis 209
Sony 70N
Sony 40N
We have a vid server in the infrastructure running NetGuard. The customer has 15 touch screens across the home which he can view the cameras from.
The issues he is concerned with is how long NetGuard takes to load to be able to view the cameras and is looking for a solution to this. It generally takes 12-15 seconds for the program to load and cameras to appear.
He has asked if sending the output of these cameras to an html file would reduce the load time and I am not familiar with how to code this.
Has anyone done this and is it effective, if not an effective solution, can anyone make a recommendation to speed up the load time for the system?
Thank you in advance and best regards,
Andres Armeda

Doesn't ONSSI have some kind of basic web-client? That may be the best route. A browser version would be faster than loading an application. _________________ Ryan

They have an API to build a web view of the cameras which does not circumvent the authentication load time and that is where the problem lies I believe.
In speaking with ONSSI they said the approach they recommend is for the customer to always leave NetGuard open as the software retains the authentication token indefinitely as long as the software is not closed. To avoid the potential bandwidth usage problem they recommend that when Netguard is not being viewed to leave it on the Setup tab which does not use bandwidth, and when viewing of the live feeds is needed to switch back to the Live tab.
The customer also had a problem when bringing up the cameras from their touch screen software. The touch screen software could not determine if Netguard was open or minimized so it would start a new process regardless. We have mitigated this issue by writing a wrapper script that the touch screen software calls out. From there the script checks to see if NetGuard is opened or minimized and acts accordingly.
So for now, we have implemented the script and have the customer manually swapping from Live view to Setup View depending on what they are doing.
I will post if an automated process is determined and what route we take to ease this for the customer.
Thanks for the reply and I hope you have a great week.
Regards,
Dre
