Hello.

Sorry about the double post, I accidentally posted it in the wrong area and I don't know how to delete it.

Anyway, here is my situation:

I'm trying to setup cameras for a security system in my house and I'm just starting out on the research on this.

I see there are many wireless ( not IP cameras, not WIFI cameras) that simple sent wireless video to an receiver with an RCA output.

Question #1: Do these Cameras effected WIFI internet on the current 802.11G standard or the new 802.11N standard? In other words, does the signal cause interference for wireless networks?

Question #2 What DVR card or software should I use?

If I ended up using this method, I would need an interface card for my computer server that will take RCA video feed and use it for a computer based input for remote viewing. ( Also looking for software that would give you all the advantages of an IP camera from analog camera). If anyone can recommend what software or DVR card to use, I would sure appreciate it.

I am looking to get motion activated video recording and remote access to the camera using the internet.

Thanks for your help.

But i´m not sure if this software grabs the video using mpeg4.
There are special dvr cards that suit best for this software.

Hi,

I have used analog wireless cameras (with the RCA connections) in the same place as a computer WiFi network area and did not experience any problems. Be aware though that the analog 2.4Ghz spectrum ususally only has 4 channles reserved for video, so if your neighbours are using wireless analogue products too, you may get interference from them.

I would reccommend the GeoVision capture card which is quite a good system. You will find that only cheaper PC capture cards have an RCA connection, but you can pick up convertors for less than 0.50cents each that will convert the RCA to BNC like on the Geo-Vision card.
