Hi all,
I've recently purchased a model NC 1200 IP cam which I've been
trying to setup. I have a couple questions:
1)
The manual claims that the night vision mode can be switched from automatic
to manual, but nowhere is this option described. I've looked everywhere in
the configuration application. The night vision mode seem to be stuck on,
which gives images a strange hue... black objects look light blue or
greenish. Is there any way to disable night vision mode?
2)
This is the far more serious issue. I purchased this camera with the
understanding that I would be able to access the video feed from any browser
over the internet using a simple IP address. Now it seems that an ActiveX
control is required to see the video, which implies that the video is only
accessible via Internet Explorer. I've been unable to view the video feed
using Firefox. How can I allow non-IE users to view the video feed? How
can I integrate the video feed into a website without the use of the
embedded ActiveX control?
3)
Also, it seems that it is not possible to view the video feed outside of the
integrated configuration tool. Is there any way to allow access to *just*
the video, and not the tool?
Any ideas? I've looked around this forum, and I see that other people are having the same issues with this camera... Has anybody found a solution? Has anybody had any actual contact with Gadspot's tech support? I am having no luck at all...
Thanks,
Marc

Hi,
Yes, the Gadspot is quite a low end camera in terms of specifications, but then quite expensive when compared to other cameras in the market. The specs are also a bit misleading when referring to the light sensitivity since it says 2.5lux at F1.4 but in the next line it says that the lens is an F1.8 which has a smaller aperture.
With reference to your questions, here are some answers which might help you solve your problem.
1. Are you sure the Night vision mode is still on? Cover the LEDs to check if the image changes. What you described is a lens issue. For a night vision camera to view near-visible Infra red, the lens and CMOS sensor need to be calibrated in a way that "sees" more red. Hence your colour images are saturated with red or any other colour that the manufacturer has calibrated the CMOS to enhance. I don't think there is a way around this issue.
2. You shouldn't need an ActiveX control to view the video since the camera is a Motion JPEG (MJPEG) and you should be able to view the video on any browser including mobile devices. But don't expect any quality higher than "fair" since MJPEG is much more resource hungry than MPEG4.
3. IP cameras usually stream video on an internal web page and then allow a number of viewers to access these pages. Therefore, No it is not possible to view just the video unless you use the manufacturer's supplied SDK. You would need to contact Gadspot technical support for this so Good Luck!!
Hope I have answered some of your issues. _________________ www.y-cam.com
