Hello,
The Milestone XProtect software does not have motion tracking. It does have motion detection which will record or send snapshots via FTP or email when motion is detected. _________________ Administrator

Wes is correct, Milestone software doesn't currently do any motion tracking. There are a few cameras out there that combine both an IPIX like camera, and a PTZ camera in one unit. The cameras internal software can use the IPIX camera to detect and track motion indepentant of Milestone software. Whether or not they support any of these cameras yet, I do not know. I can't think of a camera model off the top of my head, but if you find one, you can check it against their supported hardware list on their website.

FYI iPix just went chapter 7 and ceased operations http://phoenix.bizjournals.com/washington/stories/2006/07/31/daily40.html
My experience with tracking cameras is they are easy to confuse and not worth the money. Now I have seen some software out of Isreal that does a great job of tracking objects in the cameras field of view, for a price. I am not sure the the software can control a PTZ but try searching Google.

Yep, iPix bit the dust, but chances are someone will come along and pickup the technology (I hope!). I recall an australian IP camera that worked similarly to an iPix though. It used two cameras, one with an extreme wide angle, and used the wide angle to direct the PTZ half of the unit. However, until the demand is present, Milestone will not be developing drivers for it. _________________ Support Engineer
