I am installing a wireless cam system throughout my home and obviously the goal in doing this is to be "wireless", right? Well... not everywhere I want to place my cameras do I have a power outlet but some places I do have "multimedia" jacks (for like surround sound speakers, etc). Does anyone have an electrical engineering degree? LOL j/k

What I need it a way to hardwire the power for the wireless cameras in their desired location. Any ideas or other options would be greatly appreciated as well.

THANKS!

Unfortunately you still need some form of power there. You can usually extend the power cable somewhat with some 2 conductor 18 gage wire so you do not have to put in a 110vac outlet. Either that or look into some solar technology though for that price you could probably pay someone to wire everything for you.

You could try one of these wireless network cameras, http://www.wirelessoutdoorcam.com/main.sc They use a POE (Power over Ethernet) for powering the wireless IP camera systems. You still have to eventually find 110V AC power but you can just run CAT5 wire most of the way and it only has a low DC voltage instead of the full 110 volts. Safer yes, but it still needs power fro some where.
