I would like to record with my D-Link DCS-950.
It works great, but I would like to record only if something happend.

It should start recording, when a person is cossing the view,
and it should stop recording, when nothing happend.

In the web-interface I have the option:
Smart Recording - Skip Empty File - Save Time - 10 Seconds

I don't anderstand exactly what this mean. Mabe I can solve my problem with this option?

I also have the software D-Link ViewCam Monitor. But I didn't find the option, which will only record when something is happening.

- Is it possible width the D-Link ViewCam Monitor?
- Do I need a special Software? Which one can do that?

Thanks for every tipp!

Schorsch

Hi Schorsch,

There a different solutions for that. I use a C-MOR box for 6 cameras which only records when something happens in front of the camera. Also external motion detectors can be hooked up.

Have a look: http://www.c-mor.us

Regards,

Kermit

I just need the software...
It looks like C-MOR sells the software only with a server.

I have used software before I was buying a C-MOR which did not make me happy at all. And yes, it comes with the hardware, but therefor the hardware is well dimensioned. I tried to run software on my Windows XP PC, but this didn't work well at all. I'm happy with my C-MOR and still think it is a great deal. I like the German Engineering. Maybe that is because I like my Audi too much.

Did you see they have a very nice pricing since a couple of weeks?

Mike
