Hey! I've gotten hired at a company that does market research and they have had some troubles with their existing video surveillance software. They originally planned to save money by using a high resolution security camera as part of their normal security system to film their focus groups.

A couple problems arose: First, the camera, while a very nice security camera, is not good for filming two hour meetings and giving back a video that's nice to look at. I've got this one pretty much under control as I've found some ptz cameras that are for broadcasting as opposed to security footage for not too much dinero.

Second, the monitoring software automatically records everything in a proprietary format so that it can't be tampered with and can be used as evidence if anyone actually broke in. The problem is sometimes they NEED to edit the video from the focus groups so a client doesn't have to watch two hours of video to get the highlights.

What I'm trying to find (if it exists) is software that can run the security system pretty much as is, and then run the ceiling cam (which will probably be a Sony) for the focus group in a non-proprietary format. So far I've checked out LuxRiot and XProtect, but they don't really tell in their specs if they're capable of what I want. Any help on this would be greatly appreciated!
