I am working on a project which has the end result of modifying an RC car to be controlled over a network. We have purchased an Axis 207W which will be mounted on the car. I am completely new to the streaming video concept as far as writing my own application to handle a stream. I would prefer to write it in java. and i have seen a couple examples using jipCam, but I was hoping someone here might be able to point me in the right direction of a starting point for me. Kind of where i need to start and what I need to know to write this well. I'm assuming there are people on here who have done this sort of thing very frequently and could help get me started.

Thanks,
Seth

JipCAM: http://sourceforge.net/projects/jipcam is an opensource project so I would watch and follow source updates made by other contributors - I do not know much about it. However, since you already have IP cameras, I can recommend Ubiquiti wireless transmitters/receivers (www.ubnt.com) and a keyboard/joystick control.

There are websites doing similar things: http://www.wifibot.com/page4.php
is from http://www.wifibot.com/index.php

I guess you should have a mentor for a project like this, so ask them about resources.
