Design: 8.5 / 10 The camera came very nicely boxed.
The camera has a standard 1/4\" thread mount plate that is attached to either the top or bottom of the camera. The camera has audio input and output. It also has a digital input and output.
Image Quality: 7.0 / 10 This is a 640X480 CMOS sensor. So resolution is only okay. It\'s strictly for daylight use.
Easy of Use: 7.0 / 10 Using Internet Explorer with this camera required modifying the IE default settings. I had to locate a tech note on ACTi website explaining how to do this.
The included software gave a choice of 3 different types of installs. It wasn\'t obvious which one was the best. I chose the \"Professional\" version since it seemed best for home use. The software install was much larger and more complex than I had expected. It turns the PC into a video surveillance tool and can operate many ACTi cameras at once. Note that the software will take some time to learn.
Connectivity: 6.0 / 10 The camera connected over LAN without too much trouble. I hard-coded it IP address and this seems to work well.
Other Features: 8.0 / 10 Camera is complete and quality is very good for the price. The only thing you will need to supply are the camera\'s mount and network cable.
Strengths The camera included a power supply, lens, lens adapter ring, and very good software. It also included screw terminal blocks that are used to connect the power and digital lines to the camera.
Weaknesses The camera is strictly daylight only. It also makes use of ActiveX so viewing images via a web browser required Windows and Internet Explorer.
Summary Overall this is a good deal. The camera works well and the software is first-rate. The price on this model is relatively low, so if you want to evaluate the ACTi cameras and software, this is a reasonable choice.
