Axis 207W Wireless IP Network Camera

207W Review

Design: 8.0 / 10 It's not the prettiest cam on the market but its construction is really sturdy. It looks and feels solid.
Image Quality: 9.9 / 10 Superb image quality, really awesome
Easy of Use: 9.0 / 10 The installation manual could be a tad more didactic but this cam is really a breeze to install. The configuration of the access through Internet is really good.
Connectivity: 9.0 / 10 Flawless connectivity both through Ethernet and Wi-Fi.
Other Features: 9.0 / 10 I have not tried the motion detection yet but I reckon it will be as good.
Strengths The image quality is really very good. I have another webcam which is quite recent and the image quality is far as good as this Axis cam.
Setup is actually really easy. You connect it through Ethernet to your copmputer. Axis provides an utility which allows to automatically detect the cam once it's connected. You double-click on the cam in the utility and the setup pages appear.
The setup pages are really nicely laid out, very clear.
It was also a breeze to setup the access from the Internet. You just have to click on the Nat transversal button and it automatically configures your router to allow it. It took one click and a few seconds and voila ! I had friends and parents accessing it minutes after it was setup.
Weaknesses The price of course but it's really worth it.
The installation manual could be a bit more didactic but if you follow the instructions there's really no problem.
It's not really a weakness but the Nat transversal function sets up access on a non-standard port (different from the 80). So if at work, there is filtering of non-standard ports (which is my case), you will still have to configure manually your router to port forward hhtp traffic to the cam.
Summary Highly recommended. It's really worth its price. Superb images and a breeze to setup.
