Linksys WVC54G Wireless-G Internet Video Camera

Linksys WVC54G Wireless-G Internet Video Camera
Part Number: WVC54G
Reviews: 4
Average Review: 5.9 / 10

Design: 6.5 / 10
The Linksys WVC54G has a flexible design and can be configured to operate in various positions. You can upright it in the included stand (as seen in photo) or have the base flat with the camera head up. That said, the base of the base is large but has a low profile.

Image Quality: 6.0 / 10
I thought the overall image looked good, a little grainy. Color was off under the incandescant lights in the room I tested it.

Easy of Use: 8.0 / 10
I had no problems getting the unit operating.

Connectivity: 9.5 / 10
I had no problems getting the unit connected. Speed was very good.

Other Features: 0.0 / 10
Has a pretty decent web interface but the included recording software is weak. In fact recording in general is limited. While it supports motion detection it's not as sophisticated as the D-Link DCS-950G

Strengths
The physical design is more flexible than most IP cameras.

Weaknesses
No support for Java browser so will only work with a IE, not Firefox. I could not find a way to extract a still jpeg without using the included software and manually hitting the "snapshot" button. I hoped to capture stills to a web server.

Summary
I bought and returned the Linksys WVC54G because it did not support Firefox, nor could I find a way to grab stills from the camera. I had the opportunity to test drive the D-Link DCS950G as well and while it shares some of the same weakness as this Linksys, for the money, the D-Link is a superior camera.
