LenSec Announces the Deployment of a City-Wide IP Video Security Project for the City of Manassas, Virginia

HOUSTON--(BUSINESS WIRE)--LenSec, the leading provider of Enterprise-Wide IP-based Video Surveillance, announces the deployment of a City-Wide project for the City of Manassas, Virginia. The system spans the entire city and involves the police department, schools, and public works.

The City of Manassas is a very diverse area with a prosperous economy and a growing population. Located 35 miles southwest of Washington D.C. and in the heart of one of the world's largest economies, Manassas looked to LenSec to provide a video surveillance solution to advance public safety, and to support efficient management of the city's operations as they continue to expand.

“The City of Manassas wanted a solution that would allow an unlimited number of cameras, at an unlimited number of locations to be managed on a single, secure, web-based platform,” stated Captain Steven Bamford of the Manassas City Police Department. “LenSec was chosen because their software exceeded our requirements, including the flexibility to work with our existing network requirements and for their ability to provide a turnkey, total solution.“

While installing new IP cameras that take advantage of the latest technology, LenSec also integrated the city's existing analog cameras into the system, thus leveraging previous investments made by the city. Cameras are positioned at critical locations around the city and can be utilized during emergency situations or on a day-to-day basis by city officials. It is the City's ultimate goal to use the camera system in a way that the city's 911 dispatch center can direct emergency responders such as the fire fighters and paramedics to increase their effectiveness.

“For the past nine years LenSec has worked with local government leaders across the country to develop solutions that support public safety”, stated Keith Drummond, LenSec Chief Executive Officer. “We are proud to be the solution selected by the City of Manassas and look forward to supporting their innovative approach to protecting citizens.”

“Our plan is to continue to grow the system, allowing for full collaboration between all city entities”, stated Captain Bamford.

LenSec's solutions are based on non-proprietary, open standards, and utilizes off-the-shelf, enterprise-class, best-in-breed hardware including cameras from Axis Communications.
